1. What is this service for?

The Pelican Community aims to bring cheap and fast international delivery service from India and China to Ontario, Canada.

We partner with international air passengers travelling from India or China to Toronto, Canada to become Pelican Community's air couriers.

Benefits of Our Service:

2. How do I get started?

Register here to place an online order from an Indian or Chinese online store that will be delivered to you in Ontario, Canada.

Register here to get paid for your free luggage space as an air passenger travelling from anywhere in India or China to Toronto, Canada.

Shoppers

1. Provide me with an overview of the process as a shopper.

After completing the mini form you will be redirected to fill out more details.
Once we matched your order with a Pelican passenger, we will contact you to make your payment.
Your order will arrive 2-7 business days.

2. How long does the shipping process take?

From the moment you make the payment, your order usually takes 2-7 business days for it to arrive at your destination. We will inform you with a more accurate delivery time once we successfully match you to an air passenger.

3. Can I get a refund?

You can always change your mind up until before we ship your items domestically to the matched air passenger.

4. Do you provide shipping insurance?

By default, Pelican Community provides free shipping insurance to cover each of your shipment for up to $50.00.

If you require shipping insurance to cover over $50.00, you will be charged 5% of the Insured Declared Value (IDV). For example, if the IDV of your shipment is $1000.00, our insurance fee to cover the entire shipment would be 5% multiplied by the (IDV minus $50.00). 5% x ($1000.00 - $50.00) = $47.50.

5. What are my payment options?

We currently support WeChat Pay, Alipay, PayPal, and Interac e-Transfer when purchasing our shipping service.

Security

1. What items can I ship?

You can ship any item that's allowed to be carried on international flights from India or China to Canada.

For more information regarding what goods are allowed to be shipped through our service, please contact us directly or visit the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

2. Will my shipment be opened and inspected during the shipping process?

Air passengers who agree to carry your items on their flight have the full right to open and inspect your shipment for security concerns.

3. What if my shipment is lost, damaged or missing contents before it arrives at its destination?

Customs

1. Will I be charged customs?

Any customs fees that apply when using other international courier delivery services for your shipment will apply with our shipping service as well.

If customs fees are charged, you'll be notified to pay them before we deliver your shipment to your destination.

Air Passengers

1. Provide me with an overview of the process as an air passenger.

Register to become an air passenger here on our website.
Behind the scenes, we match you to e-commerce orders heading to Toronto, Canada from major online Indian or Chinese stores.
We will contact you with the shipment details including its size, weight and a URL to the item/s on the original online store's website.
Once you accept the delivery request, the items will be shipped right to your door for your convenience.
After Pelican Community parcel arrives at your door, you have the full right to open it and inspect it before packing inside your checked and carry-on baggage. Now you can head for your flight.
After you arrive in Toronto, Canada, we will then meet with you at your convenience to retrieve the shipment.
You will receive payment immediately after the receiver confirms successful delivery.

2. Can anyone be an air passenger for Pelican Community?

Anyone who is travelling from anywhere in India or China to Toronto, Canada is eligible to become an air passenger for Pelican Community.

During the air passenger registration process, we require you to provide a copy of your passport ID page and your flight booking confirmation for security and verification purposes.

3. How and when do I get paid?

You will be paid once the receiver confirms the successful delivery of the items you carried through your flight.

We currently support WeChat Pay, Alipay, PayPal, and Interac e-Transfer when receiving your payment.

4. My flight date is near and I still didn't receive your packages to carry, what should I do?

Security

1. How does Pelican Community ensure that the items sent to me are safe and legal?

Pelican Community is a registered corporate under the Canadian government federal corporation. Corporation number: 1176672-4.

We have designed our crowdsourced shipping process based on the natural trust and integrity that every one of us shares. However, we do realize that a few individuals may abuse our service. In consequence, we have ensured the necessary security measures we take to counteract such behaviors:

All our Packages Originate From:
- Large online retailers such as JD, TaoBao, and TMall which are then directly shipped to your door upon the placement of Shippers' online orders
Design by Trust: A review system whereby online shoppers and air passengers leave feedbacks on each other
Rigorous Verification Process: all registered air passengers have submitted their official government IDs
Transparency: all air passengers have the right to open and inspect our packages.
CATSA's Database of Allowed Items: we coordinate with the shippers to ensure that all items they ship are allowed to be carried by air passengers.

2. Can I open and inspect the items from Pelican Community?

Our parcels come from trusted large e-commerce stores in India and China.

Additionally, we will provide you with the URL of the product for your approval prior to sending it to your address. Despite all this, you still have the full right to open and inspect the shipment yourselves for that extra peace of mind.

We may even offer you to open and inspect the shipment for extra pay to check for any visible item defects when requested by the shopper.

3. What if I found a visible defect or damage to an item from Pelican Community during inspection?

Please contact us here immediately to record this incident. If your flight time is near and you don't have time to hear back from us, still pack the damaged item in your baggage and proceed as usual.

4. I forgot to pack the items from Pelican Community in my luggage or carry-on. What should I do?

Please contact us here immediately and we will try to work up a resolution that will appease all parties.

Customs

1. Do I need to declare all my items from Pelican Community on the customs declaration form at the arrival airport?

Yes, you must declare all the items received from us on the customs declaration form when arriving at the destination airport. We will not be responsible for any fines or other consequences as a result of you failing to declare those items for customs.

You must also fully collaborate with the custom officer if and when questioned about the items you're carrying for us.

2. Will I be charged customs?

If you're charged for customs, hold on to the receipt. In addition to receiving payment for using your luggage space, we'll also reimburse you in full for the customs fee in the same transaction.

Shippers

1. Provide me with an overview of the process as a shipper.

Register to become a shipper here on our website.
We then match your delivery request to an available air passenger travelling from India or China to Canada.
We will contact you to pay for our shipping service and to then ship your items domestically to the matched air passenger.
Wait a few days for your shipment to be delivered.

2. How long does the shipping process take?

From the moment your shipment leaves your possession, it would usually take 2-7 business days for it to arrive at your destination. We will inform you with a more accurate delivery time once we successfully match you to an air passenger.

3. Can I get a refund?

You can always change your mind up until before you ship your items domestically to the matched air passenger.

Once the shipment is in our possession and is cleared of any applicable customs fee, we'll contact you to schedule a time and location at your convenience to deliver it to you.
